The Vagina series is a compilation of embroideries depicting female genitalia in an abstract form. This project was created using various cotton textiles and embroidery thread to honor feminine energy and individuality. Each vagina was drawn and hand-sewed in different colors and shapes to represent the differences between women. I hope to create a conversation about the sexualization and oversimplification of what it means to be a woman in our current culture. Women can no longer be grouped or categorized as simply as they once were. As they continue to gain equality, they defy current standards.
The vagina, or what I call the “Female Powerhouse,” represents one of the magnamious qualities it means to be a woman: strong, powerful and resilient.
